Jagdalpur, September 18, 2009: At least 13 people, including an Assistant Commandant of the CRPF, were killed in fierce gun battle between the Maoists and joint police party in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
Maoists were running a gun factory between Chintagupha and Kistaram, close to Andhra Pradesh border in Dantewada District, which was raided by Dantewada District Police and personnel from Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of CRPF yesterday and killed several naxalites and two of their bodies were recovered, Police sources said.
However, retaliating that, the rebels today attacked security forces in different places including at Bhejji, Singamadgu and Palechelma and killed on Assistant Commandant Manoranjan Singh and five other security forces are missing and are fear killed where as three jawans are injured, police said.
Meanwhile, ten Maoists were shot dead by the security forces in exchange of fire today in different places near Chintagupha area.
Police have also recovered one Self Loaded Rifle (SLR), two 12 bore, 10 ML rifles and two grenades besides many other materials.
