      Korba, May 6, 2010: At least three miners were killed and a 32 injured today in a blast took place in one of the coal mines of the South Eastern Coalfield Limited, its Chairman cum Managing Director M P Dikshit said.

     An air blast took place in the underground coal mine located in Anjani hill area in Chirmiri locality of Korea District of Chhattisgarh, in which at least three miners were killed, 32 injured and some are missing, CMD Dikshit told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

     The underground mine was having the complaint of gas leaking for last couple of years but the matter was not taken seriously by the Coal mine management, many officials said.

     Due to increase in temperature coupled with gas leak might have led to the blast in the coal mine, they said adding after the blast work in the coal mine has been disrupted and rescue operation was started, they said.

    However, when asked, SECL CMD M P Dikshit said under what circumstances the blast took place would be probed and responsibility would be fixed.
