     Jagdalpur, September 10, 2009: A joint police party today shot dead three naxalites in Dantewada jungles of Chhattisgarh.

     After a fierce gun battle between the security forces and the Maoists, three naxalites were killed in Banjapalli woods of Jagargunda police station area, Bastar Range Inspector General of Police T J Longkumer said here.

     The forces have also recovered the bodies, of which two were in uniforms.

     Police had also seized three weapons and other materials from the encounter site.

     Meanwhile, Police headquarters sources said Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan has directed the district police to continue with their pressure on the rebels.
