Dantewada, November 23, 2010: Security forces today shot dead nine Maoists in a fierce gun battle in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
“At least nine Maoists were killed today morning at Jagargunda village after a fierce gun battle with the security forces,” Senior Superintendent of Police of Dantewada District SRP Kalluri told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Nine weapons of various calibers have also been recovered from the possession of the killed Maoists, he said.
The gun battle said to have taken place close to the village school of Jagargunda, but in that incident, no villagers were killed or injured.
In the last five years over 1400 security personnel and civilians were killed in Maoists related violence in Chhattisgarh.
