Mahasamund, June 9, 2009: Niharika Barik today took over as the 13th District Collector of Mahasamund.
The 1997 batch Barik took over charges from Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, who had a very successful tenure in the District and had received praised from all sections, including the State Government for his vision and implementation of several projects.
Before her current assignment Barik was posted in Delhi for a longer period as the Deputy Resident Commissioner and subsequently Resident Commissioner there.
Jaiswal has been posted as the Deputy Secretary in the Urban Administration and Housing and Environment Departments.
District Superintendent of Police Dr Anand Chhabra and several other prominent officials welcomed Barik and bid farewell to Jaiswal in a function.
