Naxals ambush, kill Rajnandgaon SP V K Choubey

     Rajnandgaon, July 12, 2009: In a major strike naxalites today ambushed a police party and killed the Rajnandgaon District Superintendent of Police V K Choubey and 25 other policemen.
     The Maoists today killed two policemen in Madanwada area under Aundhi Police station. On hearing that when the S P was rushing to the spot with additional forces naxal triggered land mines blasts and opened indiscriminate firing on the police party, police officials said.
     In that incident the S P and 25 policemen have been killed, quoting a preliminary report, the officials said.
     When contacted Police Headquarter Officials said they are still gathering details about the incident.
     It was the first incident in which an S P ranked official was killed in the state by naxals.
