Raipur, April 12, 2014: Maoists today blown up a bus killing six members of a polling party in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
“Maoists today attacked a polling party, which was travelling in a bus, killing six people,” senior police officer Gurjinder Pal Singh said here.
“There were 12 people travelling the bus when the Maoists triggered land mine blast,” said Singh, who is the nodal officer of security for Parliamentary Election in Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place near Ketulnar in Bijapur district, about 425 kilometre south of Chhattisgarh.
All the passengers were part of an election team, which was returning back to Bijapur district headquarters after conducting election for Bastar Lok Sabha seat.
Bastar went to poll on April 10, last, Singh said.
