Raipur, March 23, 2023: In a major announcement Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today said the state government will purchase 20 quintal paddy per acre from the farmers of the state.
Replying to a debate on Appropriation bill, Chief Minister Baghel said the state will purchase 20 quintals paddy from farmers instead of the current 15 quintals with minimum support price.
After coming to power the Congress government had written off the loans of the farmers and also giving them benefit through the Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana as farmers are the backbone of the state economy, Baghel said.
During the tour of the state, farmers had been demanding that the state should purchase 20 quintals of paddy instead of the current 15; he said adding we have accepted that demand and in the coming days 20 quintals of paddy per acre will be purchased from the farmers.
The growth in agriculture sector of the state is 5.93 per cent which is much higher than the national average of 3.50, the Chief Minister said.
The assembly later on passed the Appropriation Bill 2023.
