Raipur, August 17, 2023: In a first ever set back to the Congress regime of Chhattisgarh, the Election Commission today hold the transfer order of IAS Suruchi Singh.
SDM Bemetara Suruchi Singh was transferred by the State government to Mantralay as Incharge Director SC, ST Development on August 14, 2023.
Suruchi Singh is a 2020 batch IAS and has been posted as the Sub Divisional Magistrate (Revenue) at Bemetara.
However, Election Commission took objection to the transfer and issued direction to the Chhattisgarh government cancelling that order.
Since there is a ban of transfer of officers, who are involved in revision of electoral rolls, vide Election Commission Order number 437/6/INST/ECI/FUNCT/MCC/2023 Dt June 02, 2023, with immediate effect stop execution of that transfer order, in a letter to the Secretary General Administration Department the Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said.
The State government needs to take prior approval from the Election Commission before transferring any officials, who are involved in assembly election related works, Kangale said.
Before announcement of the date for November-December 2023 election to 90 member state assembly, this was the first case where the Election Commission took objection any of the state government orders.
