Raipur, January 11, 2025: An important meeting of the Collector and District Election Officers was held today at the State Election Commission office here under the chairmanship of Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh.
In this meeting held through video conferencing, detailed discussion was held on the preparations for the urban body and three-tier panchayat elections 2025.

Regarding the appointment of Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), Election Commissioner Ajay Singh directed that separate appointments should be made for urban bodies and three-tier panchayats.
Along with this, direction was issued for the final publication of the electoral rolls for the election process on the scheduled date of January 15 and all works regarding this need to be completed within the time limit, official sources said.
The first level check (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be used in the elections was also discussed in detail in the meeting.
Preparations are being made to conduct the urban local body elections through EVMs, said Election Commissioner Singh.
An officer in charge should be appointed for FLC and necessary staff should be provided for this work.
Information about the FLC programme should be made available in writing to the representatives of all recognized political parties of the district and ensure that the FLC process starts on time every day and is completed by the scheduled date, Singh said.

All the concerned officers, including the Collector and District Election Officer of all the districts, Deputy Secretary of the State Election Commission Dr. Neha Kapoor, Dr. Anupriya Mishra and Alok Kumar Srivastava, Deputy District Election Officer and SDM were present in the meeting.
Commission Secretary Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure stated that the urban local body general election of the year 2014 was conducted by the State Election Commission through EVMs.
The EVMs used by the State Election Commission are of multi vote, multi post type, Bhure said.
He said that the newly formed districts will be provided EVMs as per their requirement from their parent districts.
The State Election Commissioner directed the officers to take necessary steps to make the upcoming election process fair, transparent and smooth. He said that any kind of negligence in the election process will not be tolerated.
Through this meeting, the preparations for the urban body and three-tier panchayat elections were reviewed in detail.
All the district election officers informed the meeting about the updated status of the preparations of their respective districts and said that as per the instructions of the Commission, all the works will be completed as per the scheme.
