Raipur, July 18, 2025: In a dramatic turn of event, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today arrested Chaitanya, son of former Congress Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
After an early morning raid in the Bhilai residence of Baghel, where both the father and son live, the ED arrested Chaitanya and produced him in a designated court of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The local court in Raipur sent Baghel junior to ED custody till July 22, sources said.

The ED has arrested Baghel on charges of money laundering in connection with the alleged Rs 2,161-crore liquor scam, the sources said.
Earlier in the day Baghel himself had confirmed through X that the ED had arrived in early morning at his Bhilai residence in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
ED has been sent to his Bhilai residence by ‘Saheb’, he said adding on the concluding day of the Chhattisgarh Assembly ED has arrived.
Baghel and his close confidents have been facing several charges of corruptions in the last couple of years and some of his close people have also been arrested.
On March 10, 2025 ED had also raided the Bhilai Residence of Baghel for alleged involvement of his son in liquor scam.
For alleged involvement in liquor scam former Excise Minister of Bhupesh cabinet and 6-time Congress MLA Kawasi Lakhma and many top people of Baghel government are currently in Raipur Central Jail.
