Bilaspur/Raipur, February 22, 2009: Senior Central Minister Arjun Singh today praised Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and the Chhattisgarh state and gifted several projects to the region, from where he had once fought an election to become Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh.
The Union Minister for Human Resources Development inaugurated the Guru Ghasidas University of Bilaspur as the Central University in a function at the judicial capital of Chhattisgarh.
He also laid the foundation stone for a Rs 300 crore project to construct a new premise for the National Institute of Technology spread over 225 acre land near Rakhi-Bharenga village near Raipur and an 800-seater Hostel with an estimated expenditure of Rs 30 crore.
To impart better technical education among the students of Chhattisgarh, the Centre would provide financial assistance for having Polytechnic colleges in every districts of the state, Singh also announced.
The Centre would also provide assistance for creating model colleges in each districts of the state, the Union Minister said in Bilaspur.
He also praised the leadership of the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and said the state was now in the right hand.
Chhattisgarh has huge potential for development and abundant wealth and the process for overall development of the state has already been started, Singh said.
He also said Parliament is expected to pass the Right to Education bill in this session which would give Constitutional right to every citizen to get education.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh addressing the function said steps have been taken to link education with employment and the state had currently 39 technical institutions giving education to about 12,000 students.
The state government was also giving special importance to the issues like poverty, education and employment, the Chief Minister said.
