     Raipur, December 16, 2025: The process of obtaining birth and death certificates in Chhattisgarh has been made completely online, making it simpler, more transparent, and more accessible.

     In the state, birth and death certificates are now being issued exclusively through the online portal.

     This system has become effective following the successful implementation of the online portal revised in 2023 by the Registrar General of India’s office in New Delhi, official sources said today.

     According to the amended Birth and Death Registration Act, 1969, the birth certificate will be the only valid document as proof of date of birth for all children born after October 2023. This has brought clarity and uniformity to identity-related processes.

     In the case of children born before October 2023, other alternative documents will remain valid, as before. Additionally, previously issued offline certificates can now be digitally secured through the portal.

     All birth certificates in the state have been issued online since October 2023. Initial technical challenges were addressed in a timely manner, and the portal is now fully functional and technically robust. The Registrar General of India’s office is also providing necessary technical support and guidance from time to time.

     Official sources stated that to further strengthen this system, all registrars (birth and death) in the state have been provided with the necessary training on portal operation. Regular training programmes are also being conducted at the district level as needed, to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience in the certificate issuance process.

     The state government has also requested all concerned agencies to issue clear guidelines to bring uniformity to the processes related to Aadhaar card issuance. This will ensure that citizens receive timely and accurate documents.

     This initiative is a significant step towards expanding digital services, improving administrative efficiency, and enhancing citizen convenience in the state, providing the public with faster, more secure, and reliable services.
