Chhattisgarh’s Budget Touches Two Lakh Crore Rupees

     Raipur, December 16, 2025: In the Chhattisgarh Assembly today Finance Minister O P Choudhary presented a supplementary budget of Rs 35,000 crore, the largest supplementary budget in the state’s history.

      It includes Rs. 1,937 crore for capital expenditure and Rs. 33,063 crore for revenue expenditure.

      After discussion in the House, the supplementary budget was passed unanimously. With this supplementary budget, the Chhattisgarh government’s total budget for the year 2025-26 has reached Rs 2 lakh crore.

     In the winter session today Minister Choudhary said that with the unprecedented mandate given by the people of Chhattisgarh in December 2023, the Chhattisgarh government, under the able, visionary, and sensitive leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, has successfully completed two years full of commitment to good governance, transparency, and public welfare.

     The state government will continue to be engaged in public service with the same resolve, dedication, and sensitivity as before, and will continue to give top priority to the expectations and aspirations of the people, he said.

     Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Developed India 2047, the state government has prepared the ‘Chhattisgarh Anjor 2047 Vision Document’.

     This first supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 is a strong and decisive step towards realizing that vision, which will take Chhattisgarh forward on the path of development, trust, and prosperity, Sai said.

     The budget was discussed extensively in the House, with many members from both the ruling and opposition parties participating and expressing their views. Ajay Chandrakar, Raghavendra Singh, Umesh Patel, Dharamjit Singh, Ramkumar Yadav, Bhavna Bohra, Lata Usendi, Dharamlal Kaushik, Sangeeta Sinha, Kunwar Nishad, Neelkanth Tekam, and Dwarika Yadav participated in the discussion.

     The supplementary budget gives top priority to agricultural development and farmer welfare. A provision of Rs. 2,000 crore has been made in the supplementary budget for the Farmer Advancement Scheme.

     An additional provision of Rs 1,700 crore has been made in the supplementary budget for free electricity bills for farmers’ pumps up to 5 HP, Rs 187 crore for the interest-free short-term agricultural loan scheme, Rs 122 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme), and Rs 35 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme).

     In the field of food security, a total of Rs 19,224 crore has been allocated, including Rs 6,800 crore under the Chief Minister’s Foodgrain Assistance Scheme to settle outstanding payments from the previous government and Rs 12,424 crore to compensate for losses incurred by Markfed in paddy procurement.

     For the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, an additional provision of Rs 2,500 crore has been made in the supplementary budget, in addition to the Rs 5,500 crore allocated in the main budget. Approximately 70 lakh women in the state are benefiting from this scheme.

     A provision of Rs 452 crore has been made for the integrated development of Naxal-affected districts of the state, Rs 117 crore for police modernization, and Rs 22 crore for forensic infrastructure.

     An additional provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for rural development, along with Rs 360 crore for industrial development. Provisions related to urban development, sports, transport, fire services, and expansion of air connectivity have also been included in the supplementary budget.
