Raipur, December 19, 2025: The Election Commission is all set to publish the draft electoral roll on December 23, which will be a crucial opportunity for all citizens of Chhattisgarh to verify their voting rights.

Election Commission sources said that the first important phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme, aimed at making the electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh error-free and up-to-date, has been completed.

Under this special campaign, a comprehensive survey was conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by visiting every household across the district. During this process, the lists were cross-checked in the presence of representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to maintain transparency.

Along with the publication of the draft on December 23, the process of filing claims and objections will also begin, which will continue till January 22, 2026, the sources said.

The Commission has clarified that considering January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, any citizen who is completing 18 years of age can get their name added to the electoral roll. For the convenience of voters, the Commission has kept both online and offline options open.

Citizens can check their names and apply from the comfort of their homes through the Election Commission of India portal (https://voters.eci.gov.in/), the Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh website, or the ECINET mobile app.

If the name of any eligible person is missing from the list, they can apply by filling Form 6. Similarly, if the name of any ineligible person is on the list or there is an objection to any name, Form 7 can be used, and if there is any error in the name or other details that needs to be corrected, Form 8 can be used.

The Commission has also clarified the situation regarding proof of date of birth. If the applicant was born before July 1, 1987, any document from the list specified by the Commission will be valid. Those born between 1987 and 2004 will have to provide a document, either their own or their parents’, that verifies their date and place of birth. A birth certificate will be mandatory for applicants born after December 2, 2004.

To ensure transparency, the department has also involved political parties as active participants. Hard and soft copies of the draft electoral roll, which will be published on December 23, will be provided to recognized political parties.

In addition, a separate list will be compiled and shared of voters from whom enumeration forms could not be obtained or who were not found at home, to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out. After all these processes and the resolution of claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be published on February 21, 2026.

The Election Commission has appealed to all citizens to check their names after December 23 and participate in strengthening democracy.
