Raipur, April 14, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the workers who lost their lives in the accident that occurred today at the Vedanta Power Plant located in Singhitarai, Sakti district. Additionally, financial aid of Rs 50,000 each will be provided to the workers injured in the mishap.
Furthermore, taking cognizance of the gravity of the incident, the Chief Minister has ordered an investigation to be conducted by the Commissioner of Bilaspur.
Sai clarified that the strictest action would be taken against anyone found guilty in connection with this accident.
In a major incident, nine workers were killed and 15 seriously injured today when the boiler of the Vedanta power plant exploded in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh,
Describing the accident as extremely tragic and distressing, the Chief Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this mishap.
Sai stated that, during this difficult time, the State Government stands firmly with the affected families with complete sensitivity and unwavering commitment.
He has directed officials to ensure that arrangements are made for the proper and free-of-cost medical treatment of all the injured individuals. While wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured, he emphasized that no form of negligence in their treatment would be tolerated.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the State Government is maintaining continuous vigilance over the entire matter, and relief and rehabilitation operations are being executed on a priority basis.
He has instructed officials to ensure that every possible assistance is extended to the affected families.
