Raipur, May 17, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai formally inaugurated the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) near the Rajmahal in Raigarh on the occasion of Sushasan Tihar.

The operationalization of this state-of-the-art laboratory will significantly bolster the police investigation infrastructure across the districts of Raigarh, Sakti, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh. Consequently, the need to send samples to Bilaspur for the scientific examination of serious cases, such as murder, rape, suicide, and those falling under the NDPS Act, will be largely eliminated.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the state government is continuously working to strengthen law and order by leveraging modern technology and scientific investigative systems.

He emphasized that, in the present era, investigating crimes using traditional methods alone is no longer feasible. Scientific evidence and forensic analysis have emerged as the most effective means of identifying and apprehending criminals.

The launch of this cutting-edge laboratory in Raigarh will provide immense operational convenience to the police and render criminal investigations significantly more effective, he added.

Terming the inauguration of the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory a historic milestone for the Raigarh district, Finance Minister O P Choudhary remarked that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai, law and order across the state is being fortified through the integration of modern technology and scientific resources.

He added that the establishment of the FSL in Raigarh will make the process of criminal investigation faster, more transparent, and more efficient.

With scientific testing now being conducted locally, the police will receive investigation reports in a timely manner, thereby facilitating swifter justice for victims, Chuodhary added.

It is noteworthy that, until now, the police were compelled to rely on the Forensic Science Laboratory located in Bilaspur for the analysis of blood samples, viscera, slides, narcotics, chemicals, and alcohol. This dependency often prolonged the investigative process and resulted in delays in the resolution of numerous cases.

However, with the commencement of operations at the Regional FSL in Raigarh, the majority of these tests can now be conducted locally. This will effectively reduce the timeframe required for investigations and accelerate the disposal of pending cases.

On this occasion, Raigarh Lok Sabha MP Radheshyam Rathia, Rajya Sabha MP Devendra Pratap Singh, Raigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Jivardhan Chauhan, Collector Mayank Chaturvedi and Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh were present, along with other public representatives, administrative officials, dignitaries, and a large number of villagers.
