New Delhi, September 30, 2026: The Central Government has approved the procurement of key pulse and oilseed crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), amounting to a total of Rs 5,547.99 crore, under the Price Support Scheme in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.
The Union Ministry of Agriculture stated today that the primary objective of this decision is to protect farmers from a distress in market prices and ensure they receive a remunerative price for their produce.
Sharing details in this regard, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is working with full dedication towards the welfare of farmers, increasing their income, and making the agricultural sector self-reliant.
The government is firmly resolved to ensure that farmers receive a fair price for their produce, and the procurement mechanism is being made more transparent and accessible than ever before. Under this approval, large-scale procurement of various crops will be undertaken from farmers in these three major states, Chouhan said.
The Central Minister has given the green signal for procurement worth a total of Rs 3,992.57 crore, with the largest share allocated for farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Under this initiative, 4,66,000 tons of Tur (valued at Rs 3,937.70 crore) and 6,250 tons of Moong (valued at Rs 54.87 crore) will be procured at the support price in the state.
Approval has also been granted for the procurement of produce worth Rs 1,107 crore from pulse and oilseed-growing farmers in Karnataka. With the approval granted by Union Minister Shivraj Singh, procurement under the Price Support Scheme will be carried out in Karnataka for 1,15,500 tons of soybean (valued at Rs 659.27 crore), 38,250 tons of moong (valued at Rs 335.83 crore), and 13,413 tons of sunflower (valued at Rs 111.90 crore).
Additionally, Union Minister Chauhan has approved procurement worth a total of Rs 448.42 crore for the benefit of farmers in Telangana. This includes the procurement at support prices of 62,000 tons of soybean (valued at Rs 353.90 crore) and 10,766 tons of moong (valued at Rs 94.52 crore).
Chauhan stated that this step taken by the Central Government would not only provide financial security to farmers but also prove to be a milestone in making India self-reliant in the edible oil and pulse sectors by boosting the production of pulses and oilseeds in the country.
He assured that procurement arrangements at all centers would be transparent and that payments for the farmers’ produce would be made directly into their bank accounts in a timely manner.
