New Delhi, January 25, 2024: Chhattisgarh Intelligence Department head Amit Kumar was today named for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) for 2024.
IPS Amit Kumar has been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service for his service during his tenure in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Home Ministry sources said today.
Amit Kumar has also contributed to the Chhattisgarh police immensely during his tenure in Maoist-hit Bastar region as well as in urban pockets like Durg and Raipur districts.
Amit Kumar is 1998 batch direct recruit IPS of Chhattisgarh Cadre.
On January 17 last he was posted as the Intelligence Department Head of Chhattisgarh Police after Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai came to power on December 13, 2023 by unseating the Bhupesh Baghel government in the general election for the 90 member state assembly.
Amit Kumar had worked in CBI for about 12 years.
Before returning back to Chhattisgarh Amit Kumar was the Joint Director Policy in the CBI.
He had joined as SP in CBI and worked as DIG and Joint Director there.
