Raipur, August 25, 2008: Senior BJP leader L K Advani would kick off the poll campaign tomorrow for Chhattisgarh, where assembly poll is likely to be held in November.
Advani would be on a day long tour tomorrow, during which he had to address two meetings, one at Korba and another at Raipur city, party sources said.
Since the state assembly poll was not very far, tomorrow’s meeting of the former Deputy Prime Minister can be a virtual kick off of poll campaign for the state, they said.
The model code of conduct could be in force any time, and just before that the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh wanted to have two big functions before getting into election mode, they said.
At Raipur the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate would inaugurate a convention of the beneficiaries of the Rs 610 crore Naba Anjor programme, which was started by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh after coming to power on December 7, 2003.
All the 20,000 beneficiaries Naba Anjor poverty eradication programme have been invited for the day long convention, which would be inaugurated by Advani, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Secretary Rajendra Prasad Mandal told reporters here.
The former Deputy Prime Minister would also lay the foundation stone for two power plants in Korba district, with a total capacity of 1500 MW with an estimated cost of Rs 7000 crore
Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board Rajib Ranjan also told reporters here.
The Madwa Thermal Power station would have two generating units of 500 MW each capacity where as Korba West Power project would have 500 MW capacity, Ranjan said adding both the projects would be completed in next four years.
