Raipur, February 12, 2023: Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey has been transferred today as Manipur Governor and in her place Biswabhushan Harichandan has been appointed.
Biswabhushan Harichandan is appointed as the new Governor of Chhattisgarh to replace Anusuiya Uikey.
Harichandan was a senior BJP leader and former Minister from Odisha.
He was Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2019 to 2023 before being transferred to Chhattisgarh Raj Bhawan.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today spoke to Harichandan over phone after his appointment was announced.
Congratulating Harichandan, Baghel hoped to receive guidance and cooperation from him in performing constitutional duties.
In the later part of her tenure, Baghel and Uikey had adopted a confrontational attitude on several issues, including on amendment to the Reservation bill of the Baghel led Congress government.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister today met Governor Uikey at Raj Bhawan and thanked her for her guidance as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister also congratulated Uikey on being transferred and posted as the new Governor of Manipur.
