Dantewada, July 25, 2010:It has been proposed to construct a museum within the premises of the famous Danteswari temple to preserve the materials of the archaeological importance, officials said.
The Dantewada district Archaeological and Tourism Advisory Samity has passed a proposal to construct a museum to preserve the important materials, which are scattered around in the district.
In the meeting, members had expressed their serious concern over the large number of important archaeological materials scattered around in the district of Dantewada, including sculptures, art and culture materials.
If a museum is constructed in the premises of the Danteswari Temple besides the devotees, the people visiting the district headquarters could have a glance of the ancient history of the region, the meeting said and sent a proposal in that respect to the State Government, officials said.
The meeting was informed that the Centre had put the Chandraditya Temple, Ganesh idol, Mama Bhanja Temple of Barsur, along with the ancient idols kept in Danteswari temple, Gamawada’s archaeological remains and the Mahadev Temple of Karali Samalur have been put under protected categories.
Similarly, the state government had put the Battisha Temple of Barsur as a protected category.
