     Raipur, April 13, 2012: Chief of Army Staff General Vijay Kumar Singh would visit Bastar region tomorrow before meeting the Governor and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, officials said today.

     For the first time Gen V K Singh is visiting Chhattisgarh and during his day long tour of the state, he would visit Bastar region, where the Maoists are engaged in a fight with the security forces.

     The Army Chief would visit Kondagaon, where a formation of the Indian army was currently undergoing jungle training, officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

     It is most likely that the Army Chief might interact with the local tribals, where the Army was also engaged in a civic action, they said.

     Gen Singh is also scheduled to meet the Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh at Raipur.

     During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and especially the matter relating to army training camps in different locations of Chhattisgarh could also come up, a top state government official said.

     The Army had been assured by the state government for allotment of land to the defence forces for establishment of some of the most prestigious training facilities at Chakrabhata in Bilaspur district, Saraipali in Mahasamund district, Naya Raipur and Narayanpur district.

     The Army Chief is expected to be accompanied by very senior officers during his interaction with the State government as he is being accompanied by Lieutenant General Anil Chait, Central Army Commander and Lieutenant General R S Pradhan, GOC, Madhya Bharat Area, Jabalpur, the officials said.
