Raipur, January 15, 2010: A senior MLA of the ruling BJP today said the dream of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would not be materialized the way things are happening in the Panchayat Raj Department, and especially on the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

During the Question Hour, the BJP MLA Devji Bhai Patel raised the condition of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and said the Government claimed to have 4000 km roads in the state.

But the dream of Vajpayee to connect the villages through roads cannot be fulfilled as either the roads had not been constructed or sub standard roads had been constructed, the senior BJP leader told the state assembly.

Former Assembly Deputy Speaker and senior BJP MLA Badridhar Diwan said half of the roads constructed in Bilaspur district are broken and even after complaints action had not been taken against the concerned contractors.

Even Congress MLAs, including Amitesh Shukla and Dharamjeet Singh said roads have been caved in many places due to sub-standard works and demanded explanation from the Government for that.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Ram Vichar Netam finally admitted that many of the roads in Raipur and Bilaspur districts are in bad condition and said repair works of the said are being conducted.

Finally Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik directed the Minister to submit the inquiry reports with the assembly by February 15 on the reason of broken roads.
