Raipur, May 12, 2013: Maoists today killed three policemen and injured one seriously in a raid but they have not caused any damage to the transmission centre of the Doordarshan, a top official said.

“Maoists have entered the Transmission Centre of Doordarshan at about 1.45 AM today and shot dead three security personnel and injured another seriously,” Chhattisgarh state head of Doordarshan and Deputy Director General Rabindra Nath Mishra told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.

The transmission centre is located in the outskirt of Jagdalpur in Bastar district.

“However, Maoists have not damaged any of the installations of the Doordarshan or harm to transmission staff,” Mishra said.

“Doordarshan telecast was ended at 1.00 AM today and on hearing firing sounds at about 1.45 AM staff inside the transmission centre informed the local head A K Sahu, who subsequently informed the police,” he said.

Most likely on arrival of police the Maoists have fled the scene, Mishra said.

Police and television officials said the Doordarshan was under threat from the Maoists.

“Security apparatus are being upgraded from time to time looking into the threat,” Mishra said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has condemned the attack on the Transmission Centre and expressed his deepest condolences over the death of three security personnel.
