Raipur, June 19, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai was today invited to attend the Bastar Goncha Mahaparva, which is being celebrated for more than 600 years.
A delegation of the Goncha Mahaparva Organizing Committee, led by BJP State President and Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev, met Chief Minister Sai today and invited him to attend the Goncha Mahaparva organized at the divisional headquarters Jagdalpur.

This festival is the longest running after Bastar Dussehra and this year it was started from June 11 with Chandan Yatra.
The representatives informed that under the festival, Netrotsav Puja will be organized on June 26 and Shri Goncha Rath Yatra on June 27.
The Mahaparva will conclude with Bahuda Goncha Rath Yatra on July 5.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that this festival, which is being celebrated continuously for more than six hundred years, is a symbol of social harmony and love in Bastar.
On this occasion, the delegation honoured Chief Minister Sai by presenting him a ‘Tupki’ as per the tradition of Bastar.

It is noteworthy that there is a centuries-old tradition of firing Tupki during the Goncha festival. The tribals of Bastar prepare Tupki from a poly bamboo tube, in which the fruit of a special plant is put and pressed forcefully, which produces a sound like a firecracker.
