New Delhi, June 10, 2009: Chhattisgarh Governor ESL Narasimhan today asked the Centre to provide financial assistance to the state to develop Raipur and the new Capital as metro cities.
The Governor met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Defence Minister A K Antony and discussed with them several issues relating to the development of Chhattisgarh, officials said here.
Both the security and development are essential for fighting the naxal menace in the state, the Governor told the Premier.
During the meeting with Reddy, Narasimhan said there was every need to develop Raipur and Naya Raipur as the metro cities.
He also sought assistance for the projects of both the cities, they said.
