Raipur, April 30, 2012: Finally a breakthrough was achieved today after hectic parley between the interlocutors of Chhattisgarh Government and the Maoist to secure the safe release of Sukma District Collector Alex V F Paul Menon V, who was abducted on April 21 during a Gram Suraj meeting at Majhipara.
The interlocutors could any time inform the media about the breakthrough and the points in which the state BJP government had agreed upon to secure the release of the 2006-batch IAS, sources claimed.
When the Maoists had appointed Dr Brahma Dev Sharma and Prof G Haragopal as their interlocutors, the state government has taken help of two retired chief secretaries Nirmala Buch and Suyogya Kumar Misra to secure the safe release of Menon
In a daring incident the Maoists on April 21, 2012 kidnapped Menon after killing both his armed body guards.
When Menon was on a tour of the Kerlapal area of his Sukma district, he was confronted by the Maoists at Majhipara and after exchange of fire, the civil servant was kidnapped by Maoists.
Born on February 05, 1980, Alex V F Paul Menon V is a BE (Electronics) and Communication Engineer with MA in Public Policy.
He is a native of Tamil Nadu and joined the civil services in 2006.
The IAS officer took over charges of Sukma district collector on November 16, 2011.
