Dantewada, September 17, 2011: Social, Economic and Caste Census would be started from October 11 in ten districts of Chhattisgarh, officials said today.
In two rounds the caste census would be conducted in Chhattisgarh, they said.
In the first round, in eight districts namely Bastar, Sarguja, Jashpur, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Mahasamund, Kawardha and Raigarh census would be carried out between August 25 and October 5, they said.
In the rest ten districts namely Kanker, Dantewada, Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur, Korea, Raipur, Durg, Narayanpur, Dhamtari and Bijapur the census would be carried out between October 11 and November 20, they added.
For Survey the blocks in Census 2011 would be treated as one unit and one block comprises of about 100 to 125 family and 650-700 people.
As per the Census-2011 there are 38,252 blocks in rural sector and 10,915 blocks in urban area and in the first round caste census would be carried out in 17,284 blocks of rural sector and 2,973 blocks of urban areas spread over eight districts.
Similarly for census in the ten districts 20968 blocks of rural areas and 7,942 blocks in urban areas have been identified, they said.
