     Raipur, September 27, 2016: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two accused persons in connection with the murder of journalist Umesh Rajput of Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh.

      Both the accused are residents of village Kansanghi, District Gariaband, CBI sources said.

      Both the arrested persons were produced today before the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate for CBI Cases at Raipur and remanded them to four days police custody, the sources added.

     Further investigation is continuing, the agency said.

      Hearing a Writ petition (No 6459/2011) of the younger brother of Rajput, Chhattisgarh High Court had on December 27, 2014 directed CBI to probe the murder the journalist and the agency had registered a case on February 11, 2015.

      Umesh Rajput, a resident of village Hira Batar under Police Station Chhura, was shot dead at his Chhura residence on January 23.2011.

     CBI took up the investigation of the case, which was earlier registered against unknown persons vide FIR No.12/2011 under section 302 of IPC & Section 25/27 of Arms Act at Police Station Chhura under Gariaband district.
