Raipur, August 08, 2015: An important part of the international flight of the United Bangladesh Airlines was today recovered from Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh.
The villagers from Gangpur said the huge iron part could be of Bangladesh Airlines.
The huge iron machine fell from the sky and could be that of the international flight, the villagers informed the police. Security forces immediately swung into action and reached the village, which is about 80 kilometre from Raipur and cordoned off the area.
Meanwhile, Raipur Airport authority has confirmed that the iron mechanical part was that of the Bangladesh Airlines.
The part recovered from Gangpur village of Bemetara district was an Engine intake, said Airport officials adding it was being brought into Raipur Airport.
“Surely the 164 passengers and eight crew members of the United Bangladesh Airlines had a providential escape last evening as initially the engine intake fell and then the flight was forced landed at a comparatively smaller runaway risking the life of the people on board,” the sources said.
Due to technical snag the UBD 585 flight going from Dhaka to Mascot made the emergency landing at Swami Vivekananda Airport Raipur yesterday evening.
Initially the flight due to snag contacted the Nagpur Air Traffic Control and then Raipur ATC and finally landed at Raipur, Airport officials said.
The flight has 164 passengers and eight crew members, who are safe.
Security forces have stepped up the security arrangements since the passengers do not have any documents to land in Indian soil.
