Jagdalpur/Raipur, January 26, 2012: Republic Day was celebrated today in full colour in all the 27 districts of Chhattisgarh. When Governor Shekhar Dutt unfurled the National Flag at Raipur, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh hoist the tri-colour at Bastar divisional headquarters Jagdalpur.
Uneasiness swept the ceremony at Raipur when Governor Dutt fainted during his address to the gathering. However, he resumed his address after a brief stop of couple of minutes and also gave away prizes before leaving for a thorough medical check up.
Chief Minister Singh received salute of a ceremonial parade at Jagdalpur.
Addressing the gathering there, he urged the people to protect the unity and integrity of the country.
Rice production of Chhattisgarh has touched 90 lakh tonnes this year, Singh said adding his government was contemplating a separate budget for the farmers for the next fiscal.
The state government was also providing low-priced rice to 54 lakh families in the state, he said.
Singh also informed the people about the welfare measures his government was taking for the last several years for the development of the state and its people.
