Raipur, July 4, 2009: Chhattisgarh today demanded one TMC water from Orissa to irrigate about 35 villages of Raipur district.
Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu today met Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other officials at Bhubaneswar and demanded one TMC water from Upper Indrawati Project, officials said here.
Instead of any assurance, it is said Patnaik had told Sahu that the Chief Secretaries of both the states would soon meet on the matter, so that the interest of both the states could be well protected.
About 35 villages of tribal dominated Deobhog block of Raipur district could be irrigated if the state get one TMC water from the Upper Indrawati Project of Orissa through the Tel River, Sahu said.
For that project, both the states have developed their infrastructures and once started, the water would bring speedy development to the Deobhog region, he said.
