Raipur, June 26, 2009: Chhattisgarh Government has decided to allow the parents, who have more than two children, to contest the coming Municipality elections.
The state government has decided to repeal that Act of two child norm, Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu said here today.
After a lot of debates the State government had last year abolished the two child norm for the Panchayat Elections.
As per the rule, anyone having more than two children cannot become a member of the local bodies. Many of the elected Panchayat representatives had lost their seats because of that law and that had become a hot topic for discussion in various forums to strengthen the Panchayat Raj system in the state.
The Municipality election could be held any time after six month.
