Raipur, September 25, 2012: Main Opposition in Chhattisgarh, Congress today alleged that the state BJP government has misled the President on the selection of tribal students in all India engineering entrance examination.
However, the state government denied the allegation.
“Against the claim by Chhattisgarh government of 151 Tribal students had been selected for All India Engineering Entrance Examination and Indian Institute of Technology, only ten students could take admission in various National Institute of Technologies, including eight at Raipur NIT, and one each at NIT Jalandhar and NIT Agartala,” PCC Spokesman Rajesh Bissa stated.
The state government had claimed on July 02, 2012 of selection of 151 students and had released the group photograph of the President of India with the Chief Minister and the selected students, he said in a statement.
“Since it was a wrong figure, the government should beg apology to the President and also action should be taken against the officials who had furnished wrong information to the President,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Government through a release clarified that a total of 174 students appeared for AIEEE and PET and 138 have already taken admission in various technological institutes.
“Out of the 174 students 149 had been selected through AIEEE and 23 though state organized PET examinations,” a state government release said.
Also two students had been selected in IIT and took admission in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology Raebareli, it said dismissing the allegations of the Congress party.
