Raipur, August 24, 2009: Chhattisgarh Government today released the second installment of bonus of Rs 376 crore for paddy it had procured from the eight lakh farmers of the state.
The second installment of the bonus has been allotted to the District Cooperative Central Banks for the farmers, who had sold their paddy through the 1333 primary cooperative societies of the state.
In a letter to all the District Collectors, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Vivek Dhand had directed them to contact their respective guardian ministers and in consultation with them take steps to distribute the cheques for the bonus.
The state government had declared to give Rs 270 as bonus per quintal of paddy to the farmers, including Rs 50 from the Central government and the first installment of Rs 120 per quintal had been given in the month of February-March, totaling Rs 451 Crore, he said.
The second installment would of about Rs 376 crore.
