Jashpur Nagar, September 24, 2015: A chapter in Social Science text book of the class ten claimed due to working women unemployment have increased in Chhattisgarh.
For its sex ratio, Chhattisgarh feels proud but its text book, prepared by the Chhattisgarh State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), discriminate towards women, said a teacher.
Soumya Garg, a teacher from the district, has complaint that the text book was discriminating towards women as in the Social Science text book for Class ten says working women are responsible for unemployment in the state.
Congress joined the nation in criticizing the state government for the biased teaching material and PCC President Bhupesh Baghel demanded action against the people responsible for its approval.
After the controversy, the state government has decided to delete that portion from the text book.
But Congress pulled up the government saying why the government waited for the controversy to erupt and then issued the order when half of the academic session have already passed.
Taking a precaution, the state government has also ordered for checking of all text books from class one to ten to avoid any such embarrassment.
