     Raipur, August 31, 2009: Chhattisgarh government has geared up to meet the challenges of drought in the state and through the video conference it wanted to monitor the action plan and execution of the employment generated works in the state.

     Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh had directed the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department Principal Secretary D S Mishra and his staff to carry out employment generated works on war footing after 66 of the tehsils of the state were declared drought hit in the state.

    As per the direction, employment generated works had been opened in many places but that needed monitoring, Panchayat Raj Department officials said.

     Meanwhile, the Chief Minister would monitor the employment generated works through video conference on Wednesday.

     Starting from providing employment generated works to preparation for the next cropping season, the Chief Minister would monitor all works with the District Collectors and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers of the state, they said.
