CM Sai commemorates sacrifice and struggle of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh

On the death anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s freedom fighter the immortal martyr Veer Narayan Singh, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today paid tribute by laying flowers at his statue at Jaystambh Chowk in the capital Raipur.

     Raipur, December 10, 2025: On the death anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s freedom fighter the immortal martyr Veer Narayan Singh, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today paid tribute by laying flowers at his statue at Jaystambh Chowk in the capital Raipur.

     Chief Minister Sai said that the life of Martyr Veer Narayan Singh is an unparalleled example of sacrifice, courage, and justice.

     The indomitable courage with which Martyr Veer Narayan Singh fought against the injustice and atrocities of British rule is a golden chapter in Chhattisgarh’s glorious heritage. His devotion to the protection of his motherland and the underprivileged sections of society will always be a source of inspiration for us, Sai said.

     He said that despite being born into a Zamindar family of Sonakhan, Martyr Veer Narayan Singh’s heart was always connected to the suffering and struggles of the tribals, farmers, and poor families.

      During the severe famine of 1856, when the common people were suffering from hunger, he prioritized humanity and distributed the grain from the granary to the needy, setting an unparalleled example of compassion, sacrifice, and courage. This step was not merely a rebellion, but a historic declaration against social injustice, exploitation, and inequality.

     The Chief Minister said that Martyr Veer Narayan Singh is a living inspiration for the identity, self-respect, and people’s resistance of Chhattisgarh. His life’s struggle for the protection of the rights of the poor, farmers, and the underprivileged will always guide future generations on the path of justice, humanity, and patriotism.

     He said that the state government is working with complete dedication for the development of Chhattisgarh in accordance with the ideals and dreams of Martyr Veer Narayan Singh.

     Minister of Tribal Welfare Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MLA Purandar Mishra, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Scheduled Tribes Commission Roop Singh Mandavi, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation Ramsevak Paikra, and other public representatives were present on that occasion.
