Raipur, September 08, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today took a serious view of the incident where female students from the Shivpur Eklavya Residential School in Sarguja district walked 30 kilometers to the Collectorate to voice their grievances.
Upon learning of the incident, the Chief Minister spoke to Sarguja Collector Ajit Vasant over the phone to gather details about the entire matter.
The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure regarding the persistent problems at the school and the situation that forced the students to walk such a distance to make their voices heard.
Sai told the Collector that a situation where girls are compelled to walk out of the school to seek solutions for basic issues is completely unacceptable. He questioned why the concerned officials had not resolved the long-standing problems, including electricity issues, in a timely manner.
The Chief Minister directed the Collector to investigate the entire episode, fix accountability, and take action against the concerned officials and employees if negligence was found.
He made it clear that negligence regarding the education, safety, and basic amenities of children in residential schools and hostels in tribal areas would not be tolerated at any level.
Sai instructed that immediate steps be taken to resolve the issues raised by the students concerning electricity, a shortage of teachers, regular classes, the mess, and cleanliness.
He told the Collector that merely resolving current issues was not enough; a system must be established to ensure that students’ grievances are heard and addressed promptly at the school and hostel levels.
The Chief Minister also directed that the management of residential schools and hostels be reviewed regularly and that officials conduct continuous inspections.
He stated that a situation where children living in hostels have to personally approach the administration to resolve their problems must not recur. It is the responsibility of the concerned officials to stay informed about the children’s problems and needs and to resolve them in a timely manner.
Sai remarked that the state government is continuously providing resources to ensure quality education and better facilities for children in the state’s tribal areas. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of field-level officials to ensure that the benefits of these resources and schemes reach the children effectively. The government’s intent is clear: every child should have access to a safe, convenient, and positive environment for their education.
He stated that our children are pursuing their studies while residing in residential schools and hostels, placing their trust in us. It is our responsibility to listen to even the smallest of their concerns with sensitivity and resolve them in a timely manner. He directed the district administration to maintain communication with the female students and to continuously monitor the improvements being made to the school’s facilities.
