Raipur, January 09, 2012: Chhattisgarh Government today sought financial help from the Centre to promote sports in the newly created nine districts of the state.

During a meeting between Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken and State Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Chhattisgarh raised the issue of poor sports infrastructure in the newly created states, officials said.

Chhattisgarh has created nine new districts on January 01, 2012 and for expansion of sports activities in those districts the state needed central assistance, the Chief Minister told the visiting Sports and Youth Affairs Minister.

The Union Minister, however, has promised to provide all assistance to the state on that matter, officials said.

Singh also said the state has produced many international talents and they could have been absorbed in jobs in central public sector undertakings like Bhilai Steel, NMDC, Indian Railways and SECL. Agreed to the proposal, Maken had asked the state government to provide him a list of such sportsmen as soon as possible.
