Raipur, September 11, 2008: It took 18 months for the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and his cabinet colleagues to fulfill a wish of the state Governor E S L Narasimhan.
About 18 months back, the Governor said, he had expressed a desire before the Chief Minister, Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey, Sports Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal and Home Minister Ram Vichar Netam to have a cricket stadium here in Parsada.
He was happy today that after 18 months his wish was fulfilled, the Governor said while dedicating the Chhattisgarh International Cricket Stadium along with the Chief Minister.
Spread over 50 acre land the stadium has a capacity of 60,000 viewers and amid lot of cheers a 20-twenty exhibition match was played between famous players of the country after the stadium was inaugurated.
This international stadium is only next to Eden Garden stadium to host as many as 60,000 viewers, the Chief Minister said adding it is the first ever Cricket Stadium in the state.
Earlier talking to ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com Sports Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal said with an estimated cost of Rs 98.45 crore the stadium was constructed in Parsada village near the new capital project and about 17 km away from the Raipur city, which could promise to provide a five-star facility to 90 players at a time in side the stadium campus.
