Raipur, October 08, 2012: Main opposition in Chhattisgarh Congress party today claimed one of its youth wing leaders was assaulted severely by police for asking questions to the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh in a function yesterday.

“It is undemocratic by police to assault Youth Congress Raipur Lok Sabha General Secretary Anwar Hussain for demanding replay from the Chief Minister on the paddy procurement issue,” Chhattisgarh PCC said in a statement here.

The incident reflected that the state BJP government was not ready to tolerate any opposition voice in the state, it claimed.

Instead of giving reply to the questions of Hussain, on the direction of the Government he was assaulted by the police severely, the CPCC claimed.

When the Chief Minister was addressing a function along with union Agriculture and Food Processing Minister Sharad Pawar here in Raipur yesterday, Hussain raised voice and was subsequently taken away by police from the spot and Congress claimed he was assaulted and sent to jail by police.
