Jashpurnagar, September 25, 2026: Under the leadership of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and culverts, is gaining momentum in his home district of Jashpur.
In Jashpur district, characterized by its hilly and plateau terrain, the construction of high-level bridges over rivers and streams is strengthening connectivity in rural areas and ensuring year-round accessibility for the local population.
As part of this initiative, the construction of a high-level bridge and its approach road over the Girma River on the Boki-Ara route has been completed. This bridge, spanning approximately 100 meters, was built at a cost of over Rs 4.41 crore. Its inauguration will provide all-weather connectivity to villagers across eight local villages.
The construction of the bridge over the Girma River on the Boki-Ara route will also facilitate travel for pilgrims and tourists heading to the famous Ramrekha Dham in Jharkhand. Ramrekha Dham is a prominent religious site located in the Simdega region of Jharkhand. Improved road connectivity between these border areas will boost religious tourism and ease local travel.
Previously, the absence of a high-level bridge over the Girma River meant that traffic on the Boki-Ara route was disrupted whenever the water level rose during the monsoon season. Heavy rains and increased water flow made it difficult for villagers to cross the river and reach the main road.
This caused significant inconvenience to students, farmers, patients, traders, and the general public. Now, with the completion of the bridge, travel will remain smooth and safe even during the rainy season, providing villagers with relief from the long-standing issue of disrupted connectivity.
The construction of the bridge over the Girma River will directly benefit residents of eight villages, including Boki, Balachhapar, Koramkera, Biropani, Ranpur, Salekera, Narayanpur, and Jhilmili. Residents of these villages will gain better connectivity to the main road, facilitating easier access to schools, markets, hospitals, health centers, and other essential services. Farmers and traders will enjoy improved mobility, resulting in savings on both time and transportation costs. Enhanced road connectivity is also expected to boost economic and social activities in the region.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai, priority is being given to the construction of high-level bridges over rivers and streams in Jashpur district. Approval has been granted for the construction of 22 high-level bridges in the district. While the construction of two of these bridges has already been completed, work on the others is progressing through various stages. Local residents and villagers have expressed their happiness and gratitude to Chief Minister Sai upon the completion of the bridge.
Villagers noted that during the monsoon season, rising river water levels used to make travel hazardous and often disrupted connectivity. The new bridge will now ensure year-round accessibility, saving time and enhancing public safety.
