Corruption in NREGP in Kawardha and Mahasamund

     Raipur, June 25, 2009: Chhattisgarh Administration today suspended one official and issued show cause notice to another for their alleged involvement in the irregularities in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

     Sub-Engineer of Pandariya in Kawardha District Shyam Das Mohle has been suspended by Raipur Commissioner Babu Lal Agrawal, officials said today.

     The engineer was suspended for his alleged involvement in irregularities, including drawing money with the help of fake signature for deepening of ponds and other works.

     Similarly Basna Janpad Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S P Verma has been issued show cause notice for delay in payment of wages to the people under the NREGP works in Mahasamund district, they said.

     The Commissioner had also given charges of Basna to Saraipali Janpad Panchayat CEO.
