Raipur, March 24, 2009: The CPI has accused the BJP and Congress of having failed to raise the issue of tribal dominated Bastar region of Chhattisgarh in Parliament.
CPI leader Chitta Ranjan Bakshi said both the Congress and BJP and even former Leader of Opposition Mahendra Karma had represented the Bastar tribal seat but they preferred to ignore raising the issues of Bastar in Parliament.
Looking into that the CPI has fielded Manis Kunjam as its party candidate from Bastar seat, he said.
Bakshi said Bastar was passing through a crisis due to naxal issue and underdevelopment and that need to be solved.
