     Kanker, December 03, 2022: The Election Observer today visited some polling booths ahead of the December 5 Bhanupratappur assembly by-election to ensure free and fair poll.

     Election Observer Dr Venkatesh M V visited the Khutgaon, Karramad, Hahaladdi and a couple of other polling booths.

     He also enquired about the arrangements made for the voters and also about the voter list and its distribution at the village level.

     Bhanupratappur will go for by-poll on December 5 and the counting of votes will takes place on December 8.

     Chhattisgarh administration has declared the voting day December 5 as a holiday in the Bhanupratappur assembly segment area.
     The by-election is scheduled as sitting Congress MLA and Deputy Assembly Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away on October 16 last after a massive cardiac arrest.
     Congress has fielded Mandavi’s widow Savitri Mandavi whereas BJP preferred its former MLA Brahmanand Netam.
     A total of seven candidates are trying their luck in the by-poll.
