Raipur, July 23, 2010: The Farmers union of Chhattisgarh had threatened to launch an agitation against the state BJP government if their demands are not fulfilled.
Besides giving arrears on bonus of Rs 270 the unconditional and free power supply to the farmers are not met, the farmers would go on a statewide agitation, Spokesman of the Chhattisgarh Sanyukt Kishan Morcha Jageswar Prasad said today.
To press for its demand, the Morcha had decided to organise agitation at Raipur on 29 of this month and on August 5 at Raigarh, he said.
A meeting also decided yesterday to continue the agitation until the eleven points of demands are not fulfilled, he said.
Besides bonus on paddy purchase and free electricity as announced by the state government during election, the farmers union also demanded interest free loan to farmers, making the minimum support price of the paddy to Rs 1400 per quintal among others.
