Raipur, October 28, 2011: Succumbing to the opposition pressure, BJP Government in Chhattisgarh has advanced the date to start procurement of paddy in the state by ten days.
For the benefit of the farmers, the state government would start procuring paddy from November 5, next, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said here.
Talking to a delegation of the Kishan Morcha, led by its state President Sandeep Sharma, the Chief Minister yesterday evening stated that the procurement process would start from November 5.
The state government had earlier decided to start procurement from November 15, which was severely criticised by the main opposition Congress, which demanded early procurement to avoid harassment to the farmers.
