Raipur, February 05, 2016: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today said his government is in favour of an independent media.
Chhattisgarh Government is determined to maintain the independence of media and while performing their duties media persons will get full protection from the law, said the Chief Minister.
To maintain the tradition of independent media, the Chief Minister said he has issued instruction to the state Home Department.
A Committee has also been set up under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the General Administration Department, which would examine the criminal cases filed against journalists.
Undivided Madhya Pradesh Home Department had issued a notification on December 24, 1986 to check unnecessary harassment of media persons and the same notification has again issued by Chhattisgarh Director General of Police on February 03, 2006 to all the district Superintendent of Police to implement the notification in letter and spirit.
